Latin language course - level A1
ostium: beginners and false beginners

Given the large number of requests, “GrecoLatinoVivo” National Center for Classical Studies is organizing an online evening Latin course for the seventh year, based on the Nature Method conceived by Hans Henning Ørberg. 
The course is dedicated to those who have no or little previous knowledge of the Latin language . 

Following the COVID19 emergency, in order to ensure the peace of mind of all participants, the course will be held online on the Zoom platform.

• Structure and objectives of the course
The course starts on Monday, 18 October 2021 from 18:00 to 20:00, structured into 18 lessons of 2 hours each, on a weekly basis. There are some lessons on Wednesdays. You can check out the full calendar here. Last lesson: February 3rd 2022.

• The course at a glance
The course offers the opportunity to learn Latin according to a method that provides a deep and active involvement of the learner, through reading, listening, exercises, with a method very similar to the one used to teach modern foreign languages.
The books handled are completely written in Latin, thus allowing direct access to the language from the very first steps and making easy the words and constructs learning through the high frequency with which they are meet and used.
Learning classical languages ​​thus becomes a pleasant natural process and the essential grammar notions do not remain abstract formulas to be memorized but become part of a reflection process that serves to inductively organize what was learned before.
It will not be necessary to decode a decontextualized passage, translating word by word through the inevitable use of dictionaries but to cultivate reading, listening and understanding.
The results of these techniques, already in use by the humanists, are guaranteed by modern scientific research in the field of language teaching.

By enrolling in this course, you can take the Level A2 Language Certification Exam for free.

• Recipients of the course
The courses are aimed at enthusiasts and curious, lovers of the ancient world and all those who, regardless of their study paths, want to learn Latin; therefore, not only to those who study Classical Literature, but also to those who dedicate themselves to medieval and modern history, to European literary history, to philosophy, to theology, to the liturgy.

The course is held by Giampiero Marchi, director of the National Center for Classical Studies and by the teachers of the Center itself.

This course is held live with the teacher, but all subscribers will have access to the lessons recordings to be able to use them in case of absence or for review purposes.

• Cost of the course and the possibility of paying in installments.
Until September 30 the course price is € 290 (€ 270 for students) instead of €330.
All material is provided by the teacher.
